The Parish Staff and Parish Pastoral Council wish all our parishioners a happy and peaceful New Year.

The New Parish Centre
Most of you know there has for a long time been a plan to build a Parish Centre in the service of our Parish Mission.
Much progress has now been made in bringing forward the plans for the Parish Centre and it is expected that building work will begin in February.  There will be a real excitement about getting the building work under way.
In a few weeks time it is hoped to make more detailed announcements about the Project Schedule, Costings, Fundraising and the special arrangements that will have to be put in place to accommodate a building site beside the Church. May God bless the work!

EXPERIENCES NEVER FORGOTTEN
A Thanks from Fr. Paul

Dear Friends,
Thank you for the wonderful celebration that took place on Sunday evening, December 11. It was a truly humbling and joyful experience as we relived together something of the spirit of the past five and a half years. It was great to meet and talk to so many of you and to enjoy the high standard of Liturgy and the variety of wonderful sacred music which really captured the mood of the night. I appreciated the kind words spoken by my colleagues in the Parish, on the Pastoral Council and in St. Andrew’s Parish.
As always the hospitality was up to its high standard and Fr. Frank's songs suitably expressed the fun that we have shared. It reminds us all that we need not take ourselves too seriously.
I also wish to thank you for your kind and very generous gift and for the beautiful Bríd Clake watercolour of part of the walk that I enjoyed with the dogs.
It is with a heavy heart that I leave you, but, as Joe McDonnell expressed so well, that the experience I have had in Malahide is a good foundation for the new challenge I face here in Brackenstown.
Again thank you to all who made the night so special and one which really touched my parents. This spirit of Malahide is very special. I am fortunate to have shared in it while I was with you and know that such experiences are never forgotten.
Wishing you every blessing this Christmas and in the New Year. Fr. Paul

WELCOME TO MALAHIDE FR. GARY

A warm and sincere welcome is extended to Fr. Gary Darby, C.C. who has come to minister here in Malahide. He has already met a number of parishioners as his ministry has already begun.
Fr. Gary is NOT a Dub, but he is, I am reliably informed, an “honorary” Dub. He is originally from Rathwire, a small village in Westmeath only 12 km from Dublin. He attended secondary school in Killucan. His main studies for the priesthood were undertaken in the Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy.
Fr. Gary then went to Milwaukee in America where he trained as a Hospital Chaplain (CPE – Clinical Pastoral Education).
He was ordained in 1998 and served as Hospital Chaplain in Dublin’s Mater Hospital from 1998 until 2007. During this time he trained as a Psychotherapist in the Dublin Counselling Therapy Centre. From 2007 Fr. Gary was a curate in Holy Trinity Parish, Donaghmede.
It is easy to see from the above information that Malahide has been blessed to get a priest with so many skills. Welcome to Malahide, Fr. Gary, where I am sure you will experience the friendship and cooperation of all. — The Mumbler

Maureen moves on

This is the second year of training for Parish Workers in the Archdiocese of Dublin. Since September last Maureen Hibbs has be working with us. All who came in contact with her enjoyed the experience.
Maureen finished her time with us last week and is about to begin working in Donaghmede Parish. We thank her being with us and for her work among us and we wish her every success in the future.
Maureen asked us to publish a few lines from her. Here they are:

A Few Lines from Maureen Hibbs

Trainee Parish Worker

“My time in the Parish has very quickly come to an end. Following my assessment report with Ellie from Clonliffe College and the priests of the parish, I realised that I had been involved a lot in parish activities, including prayer, relationships and education. It has been a very fruitful experience. A big thank you for the very warm welcome I received. Thank you to the parish team and to all the groups who welcomed me into their meetings. Thank you to individuals and families who have very openly let me share in their lives during this time. Please be assured of my prayers and thank you for yours.
Maureen.”
