Parish Pastoral Council
Pastoral Councils are now established in all parishes of the Archdiocese – offering leadership and planning, and sharing responsibility in promoting a lively Christian community. Our first Parish Pastoral Council began its work in September 2003, and the current Council was commissioned in September 2009.There are seventeen members currently on the Council - fourteen lay people and three parish staff members. It meets each month, has guidelines, and has prioritised hospitality, development of
parish facilities, liturgy and prayer, young people, and caring services as its main concerns.

Should you be free and willing to give up some of your time to parish activities, or wish to communicate with the Council, please make contact through the Parish Office. The members of the Council are-

Legion of Mary: "The Legion of Mary presents the true face of the Catholic Church" (Pope John XX111).
Praesidium of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe meeting takes place in St. Sylvester's Parish Hall every Monday evening at 7.45 p.m. New members welcome.

Lectio Divina: An informal group who reflect on, and pray about the Gospel of the following Sunday.
Meeting every Tuesday in the Parish Hall after the 10.00 a.m. Mass. All are welcome.

The Emmaus Faith Group: This is an interdenominational group whose participants come from the Christian Churches of Malahide.
It promotes faith sharing and understanding in an informal setting.
Meetings take place every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the Carmelite Monastery meeting room.

Patricians: The Patricians is a society controlled by the Legion of Mary.
Meetings are monthly, usually the 3rd. Friday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Sylvester's Parish Hall.
Agenda is, prayer, address by lay speaker, talk by Priest, discussion in a spirit of family friendship, tea.

St. Joseph's Young Priests Society: A nationwide society of Parish branches to provide both spiritual and financial support to students for the Priesthood in Ireland and throughout the world.
Malahide branch meeting is on the 2nd. Thursday of each month, after the 10.00 a.m. Mass. All are welcome.

Womens World Day of Prayer:
The international and interdenominational womens world day of prayer takes place each year on the 1st. Friday of March.
It is compiled each year by a different country and this service is carried out by each Church in turn in our neighbourhood. All, both men and women, are welcome to attend.

Womens Forum:
The purpose of the Forum is to dialogue with the clergy and hierarchy so that the views of women can inform decisions and facilitate change. The Forum provides a place where the views, experience and gifts of women can be expressed.
It will enhance the role of women in the Church so that it will lead to greater equality and vibrancy in the entire Church community.
Malahide Parish is part of the Fingal Deanery.
